Philosophyinthemaking proudly celebrates Black History Month and the incredible people who led the path toward justice.
What is Black History Month?
Black History Month is celebrated annually to recognize and celebrate the achievements of African Americans. "Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history", as stated by History.com.
It is an opportunity to highlight the achievements that many African Americans accomplished throughout the world. Most importantly highlight the women who fought for justice and paved their way through history. Since the integration of Black History month across the U.S., many schools, local communities, and organizations celebrate this month with activities and celebrations.
As stated by History.com, "Remembering the activists and civil rights pioneers such as Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks to leaders in industry, politics, science, culture and more".
Celebrating their contributions is important to remind our younger generation who paved the way for them. Philosophyinthemaking is proud to represent Black History Month.
